Whenever we develop a new bizhub multifunctional system, we always make sure that anyone working in an office will find it easy and convenient to use. This means that we consider the essential aspects of usability, accessibility and handling in the design of every new bizhub. We do this because even the most sophisticated business equipment is of little value if it is difficult or inconvenient to use.
In order to entirely rule out any lack of convenience for Konica Minolta products, we have developed our own guidelines on the accessibility and usability of our products. Konica Minolta’s Universal Design Guidelines are based on “The Principles of Universal Design,” which were conceived and developed by “The Center for Universal Design” at North Carolina State University many years ago. All Konica Minolta product design reflects these seven design principles:*
- Equitable use
- Flexibility in use
- Simple and intuitive
- Perceptible information
- Tolerance for error
- Low physical effort
- Size and space for approach and use

Over the years, we have thus developed various technologies and components to facilitate working with our bizhub devices for anyone and everyone, including those that might be physically challenged in some way. Our self-imposed rules make sure that confusion and error are eliminated during operation, documents are easier to retrieve, fatigue is reduced and servicing simplified. We also test each new product carefully with regard to its accessibility and usability, asking senior citizens and people who are physically or visually impaired for their approval. That way we know we practice what we preach.
In all this, we don’t forget the manufacture of our bizhubs either. In order to create sustainable products that can be recycled more easily and extensively, we pay close attention to the materials for every one of the numerous parts and components used.
