Konica Minolta targets new growth wave with AccurioLabel 230 launch

Konica Minolta has today launched the AccurioLabel 230, the latest version of its highly successful digital toner press, to bring numerous benefits for customers including; productivity, flexibility and stability as it continues to accelerate its presence within digital label printing.

The easy-to-operate Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 230, which will be officially shown in public for the first time at Labelexpo in Brussels, Belgium, from 24-27 September, will meet growing market needs for shorter runs and increased customisation.

Shipments have already started for the new label press (that from the outside looks identical to its predecessor), the Konica Minolta AL190, which has been developed and manufactured in Europe with Danish firm Grafisk Maskinfabrik (GM).

The enhancements of the Konica Minolta four-colour AL230 include:

  • Increased speed. The 23.4 meters/min print speed represents up to 147% increase, with most coated/uncoated papers, PP and PET media now able to be printed at full speed.
  • Productivity. Continuous highest quality 1200 x 1200 dpi print runs of up to 1,000 meters can be achieved without the need for recalibration. The time taken between jobs has also been eliminated, increasing productivity further.
  • Overprinting. Adding this option allows the AL230 to print seamlessly on pre-printed media, for example overprinting of flexo white pre-printed on clear PP labels.
  • More accurate print registration. A built-in speed detector for media feeding also cuts paper wastage.

The AccurioLabel 230 has been built on the Konica Minolta highly acclaimed AccurioPress engine technology well known for its exceptional print quality and media compatibility. It is targeted at small- and mid-range segments and is suitable for label printers, print providers, brand owners, packaging companies and commercial printers.

Jon Pritchard, Industrial Print Business Unit Leader of Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd, said, “With over 350 installations of the predecessor to the AccurioLabel 230, the core technology is proven worldwide. The AccurioLabel 230 robust and simple to operate/maintain concept makes for the perfect entry-level digital label press, with productivity and print quality performance to match and exceed presses over 3 times the cost. This is truly the most capable CYMK digital label press in the market, when considering performance and investment. Printers looking at entering the digital label market no longer have to compromise on media width, speed or quality. Whilst the AL230 has the price tag of an entry-level press, its performance and flexibility allows it to compete with the long-standing digital label presses in the market. If automation is required then the fully integrated inline semi rotary label finishing solution gives ultimate productivity advantage. The AccurioLabel 230 is the true no compromise entry level label press.”
