West Yorkshire Police serves approximately 2.2 million people across the five metropolitan districts of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds, and Wakefield, covering an area of 780 square miles. Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd has partnered with the force for more than 10 years as the sole supplier of its office print fleet and Print Room devices.
Introduced through the Crown Commercial Services (CCS) procurement framework, Konica Minolta has continued to support and evolve the force’s print infrastructure in line with organisational change and the demands of more than 6,000 officers, PCSOs, and support staff.
Challenges
Like every police force in England and Wales, West Yorkshire Police is under pressure to maximise efficiency across its resources, including its print infrastructure. To support this, the force uses SafeQ print management software to gain accurate insight into print usage, including volume, size, colour, and mono output, as well as where and by whom documents are being printed. This helps ensure resources are allocated efficiently across the organisation.
Solution
In addition to continuously monitoring print demand, West Yorkshire Police also places strong importance on measuring device reliability. As part of its ongoing support, the Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd team carries out regular performance reviews across the entire fleet. These reports show device uptime of 99.85%, while service engineers achieved a 97.18% first-time fix rate when issues arose, with both metrics exceeding the CCS service level agreement requirements.
