Elmdale and Konica Minolta optimise colour print usage and reduce overheads for a top insurance broker

London, UK | 14 September 2023

Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd and Elmdale Maintenance Ltd are saving a leading UK and Ireland insurance broker significant print costs by automating the intelligent usage of its colour and mono printing – including a reduction from £4,000 down to just £600 in one month at the original test case branch.

The intelligent use of colour through Elmprint (a software solution developed in collaboration with Konica Minolta), enables 163 of the broker’s branches to provide customers with high quality printed materials from its fleet of more than 200 bizhub multifunctional devices (including C3350i, C4050i, C300i and C450i models), whilst affording the business tight control over unnecessary colour ink costs. It also eliminates time previously wasted manually collating prints. Furthermore, Elmprint integrates seamlessly with PaperCut’s print software.
Elmprint utilises Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to check a document and to distinguish what needs to be printed in colour from a pre-approved set of requirements/standards. David Leno, Sales Manager at Elmdale also commented, “Elmprint interrogates the entire document file by taking it directly from Papercut before returning it to the process to maintain user credentials, which is important for each branch in retaining its KPI statistics.”

The insurance broker now has a fully end-to-end supported IT and Print support package from Elmdale, which includes a fully managed fleet of Konica Minolta bizhub devices and support for Papercut, as well as the standout functionality of Elmprint.
