  • KONICA MINOLTA ENABLES DERBY COLLEGE GROUP TO REDUCE SPEEDING VEHICLES ON CAMPUS USING INTELLIGENT VIDEO

Derby College Group’s (DCG) Broomfield Hall Campus site had issues with vehicles speeding as they approached its car park, having left the nearby national speed limit road. Previous electronic signage, which displayed drivers’ speeds, had proven ineffective in reducing the problem, so DCG’s Health and Safety Group was keen to find a better way of addressing the issue

CHALLENGE

The DCG management team had concerns about speeding vehicles entering its Broomfield Hall Campus site, which lies just to the northwest of Derby. Traffic leaving the A608 main road, which has a UK national speed limit, is immediately met with the need to reduce to 10 mph to safely navigate the site’s entrance and route to the car park. There had been reports of drivers exceeding the campus speed limit and potentially risking an incident involving themselves or other road users and pedestrians.

SOLUTION

Having worked successfully with Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd for a number of years, DCG’s management team was familiar with the company’s IT, print, and intelligent video solutions offerings and asked for its expert advice. Working closely with Solution Consultant Rachel Nyland, who already had an excellent working relationship with the DCG team, it was agreed that intelligent Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and digital signage would be the best approach.
