Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd has maintained a long-standing 20-year partnership with Derbyshire Constabulary through the CCS Framework. With a strong track record in service, support, and delivering cost savings, Konica Minolta was selected via a direct award in October 2024 to renew the Constabulary’s print fleet and production print devices within the Print Room.
Challenges
Although Derbyshire Constabulary was already highly impressed with its print provision and the level of service delivered beyond the stipulated SLA, the organisation had reached the point where it was ready to renew and refresh its print fleet.
When reviewing options for a new A4 office print fleet and Print Room production print devices, Derbyshire Constabulary turned to its trusted print partner of 20 years, Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd, to explore the available solutions.
Konica Minolta provided detailed utilisation reports and data to assess the Constabulary’s print usage and requirements. Through this analysis, several underused print devices were identified, helping to highlight opportunities for improved efficiencies and cost savings.
Solution
Taking into account the closure of several Derbyshire Constabulary police stations, alongside the increase in hybrid working among officers and staff, Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd presented a solution that reduced the number of office print devices from 145 to a new fleet of 97 devices, while still meeting all of the Constabulary’s print requirements.
In addition, Konica Minolta specified two new production print devices to modernise the Constabulary’s central Print Room. With mono print volumes declining, the previous mono print engine was replaced with a more efficient and up-to-date alternative. Alongside this, a new advanced colour engine featuring enhanced finishing capabilities, including an SD-513 booklet maker for square-backed binding, was installed to provide greater functionality and flexibility.
