  • Cardiff Metropolitan University automates and accelerates Print Studio production with Konica Minolta

Cardiff Metropolitan University has transformed the efficiency of its award‑winning Print Studio by upgrading to an AccurioPress C4070 with TU‑510 inline trimming unit and AccurioPro Flux workflow automation from Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd. The new solution replaces ageing offline finishing equipment, eliminates manual intervention, and streamlines make‑ready and finishing processes.

Challenge

The university has a successful Print Studio, which has won multiple industry awards in recent years, with its narrow-format digital print production the envy of similar organisations in the area. The Print Studio offers a wide range of services to its students, staff, and external customers, including many wide-format offerings to cover indoor and outdoor applications, as well as services such as flat-bed cutting, offline booklet making, and even Direct to Garment and Direct to Object print.

Solution

After a competitive tender process, Cardiff Metropolitan University selected Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd to deliver a solution that would take its Print Studio to the next level in automation. Following a close consultation process between the university and Konica Minolta, an AccurioPress C4070 equipped with the TU-510 trim module was chosen. Driven by the AccurioPro Flux software, this enables the print team to easily visualise finishing formats, impose files, and add cut-marks or barcodes.
