Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd is proudly celebrating the 20th anniversary of its market-leading bizhub brand of multifunctional print devices (MFPs). Launched in 2005 as the centralised hub for print, copying, faxing and scanning for the rapidly connecting workplace, the award-winning bizhub range continues to lead innovation as the MFP of choice for the ever-evolving workplace.
As a vital 'Business Hub', the Konica Minolta bizhub range has continuously evolved to meet workplace demands, integrating advanced features for efficiency, security, and sustainability over the last two decades. Its versatility has seen the bizhub range support the needs of businesses and organisations of all sizes and types, including schools and colleges, NHS and healthcare providers, financial services, manufacturing, retail, and many more.
Having evolved at a rapid pace, some of the range’s most noteworthy developments include the introduction of scanning and processing software in 2009 to support the move towards ‘The Paperless Office.’ In 2011 the bizhub range launched mobile printing to meet workforce flexibility demands and also launched bizhub SECURE to enhance cybersecurity - later strengthened even further with the inclusion of Bitdefender Antivirus in 2019. To embrace the growing need for MFP cloud connectivity, the bizhub range included connectivity via IWS (Internal Web Server) in 2012, and also introduced the novel MarketPlace for the addition of useful functionality, including seamless cloud scanning and printing services.
Improving sustainability is also a key component of the range. In 2012 the bizhub range started using recycled plastics and new Simitri® toner, which reduces power consumption. This focus also saw the release of the bizhub i-Series in 2019, featuring lower TEC values and energy-efficient components, cutting CO₂ emissions by up to 25%. In 2023 Konica Minolta launched the bizhub Refreshed programme across Europe to refurbish devices after their initial lifecycle and continues to deliver comprehensive Consumable Recycling.
Besides high levels of functionality, bizhub devices also prioritise inclusivity and accessibility, with ergonomic features and the use of Universal Design principles throughout the last 20 years. The range also stands out for its award-winning aesthetic, including the 2007 Infoline Design, which transformed MFP styling with a sleek black-and-white body and modernised user interfaces.
The bizhub range continues to evolve and Konica Minolta recently introduced the high-speed bizhub C4751i, the fastest A4 colour model in the range, continuing its commitment to innovation and adaptability. AI-driven advancements, such as the Intelligent Media Sensor, are also shaping the future of the lineup. Using machine learning-based algorithms and sensors, this technology automatically detects paper type and optimises printing conditions to ensure the highest print quality for every media type.
This year, Konica Minolta's bizhub range was recognised by five Buyers Lab (BLI) Awards from Keypoint Intelligence, including four Pick Awards for individual MFPs and the prestigious 2025 A3 Line of the Year Award. For the A3 award, the judges acknowledged “superior performance during Keypoint Intelligence’s testing across the entire A3 line,” and praised Konica Minolta for its “fresh, broad portfolio with a strong feature set that can meet and exceed the needs of hybrid working environments.”
