Konica Minolta solution delivers £200,000 annual efficiency savings for St. Andrew’s Healthcare

| 6 July 2020

Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd today released results from its partnership with St. Andrew’s Healthcare to include £200,000 annual efficiency savings that have been reinvested into front-line services.

Following a tender through the Crown Commercial Services RM3781 Framework, the specialist mental healthcare provider and registered charity are benefiting from standardising on Konica Minolta’s transformative print and document management infrastructure, that combines technology, people and processes.

Following a root-and-branch audit of St. Andrew’s existing print-fleet, Konica Minolta replaced 400 outmoded and diverse desktop devices with 170 next-generation floor-standing and desktop MFDs, to support more than 5,000 patients and staff across its four hospitals – Northampton, Birmingham, Essex, and Nottinghamshire. IT Business Relationship Manager at St. Andrew’s Healthcare, Jenna Sutton, commented: “Konica Minolta made it all so easy. The expert team assessed our current environment, provided recommendations around hardware and software to support our needs, and helped with change management.”

The £200,000 annual efficiency savings are being achieved through a streamlined fleet of devices, improved print reporting, more efficient consumables management, and reduced paper waste. Further gains were made because support time has fallen from two days to just four hours, which positively impacts staff efficiency and patient care. Konica’s SafeQ print management software is used to enable pull-printing, set print governance policies, and create efficient workflows for the capture, processing, and distribution of content.

St. Andrew’ is also benefiting from enhanced security, with its formerly unpoliced print use being replaced with a ‘follow-me’ approach, whereby staff now use their security badge to connect to a device and print, scan or copy a document. This delivers improved document security and patient confidentiality, as well as improved flexibility for staff that frequently work across different sites, and are now able to access devices anytime and anywhere.

Head of Public Sector Sales at Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Limited, Jonathan Smith states: “As organisations adjust and adapt to new ways of working, they are carefully evaluating their infrastructure investments, to ensure they are able to respond to changes to their current and longer term requirements. This includes looking for efficiency gains that can enable vital funds and resources to be redirected to front-line service delivery.”

Jenna added: “We are also innovating for the future, collaborating with Konica Minolta on new ways to improve our healthcare services, including the expansion of DocNav software and scanning across the estate.”
