Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 230 Printer Awarded Coveted ‘Editor’s Choice Award’ by Print.IT Reseller Magazine

| 7 November 2019

Konica Minolta is proud to announce its AccurioLabel 230 digital label printer has been awarded the highly respected ‘Editor’s Choice Award’ by Print.IT Reseller magazine.

The Award was announced in the Issue 64 of Print.IT Reseller Magazine. With the Editor’s Choice award based on three key criteria of design, innovation, and functionality, the editor felt that AccurioLabel 230 was a great example of combining these aspects into an exemplary solution for digital printing.

James Goulding, Editorial Director, Print.IT Reseller magazine said: “What impressed me about the AccurioLabel 230 is that Konica Minolta have addressed the needs of users and customers allowing increased customisation and shorter runs. In our ever-changing markets this will help Konica Minolta customers maintain a competitive edge.”

Jon Pritchard, Industrial Print Business Unit Leader at Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Limited stated: “We are delighted that the AccurioLabel 230 has been recognised by Print.IT Reseller for this award. New technology such as the AccurioLabel 230 label press is helping printers enter new markets and offer improved services in this growth sector, as seen at the recent Label Expo in Brussels. Inkjet technology was on show in abundance, offering solutions in the low, mid and high-end label space.”

Jon continued, “Whilst inkjet has a clear market position in the high-end label production space due to its speed and cost benefits, in the low and mid-market sectors, inkjet comes with a number of compromises which can limit the long term adoption of the technology. These can include high running costs, limited material types, restricted material width and slow production speeds. Konica Minolta’s dry toner technology is built on years of refined development that has enabled the core technology to be used in hundreds of thousands of printers around the world. The technology is simple to maintain and very straightforward to operate and overcomes the issues associated with low to mid enter inkjet presses. Standard 330mm flexo materials can be used without special pre coatings, at a print speed of 23.4m/min with an addressable print quality resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi. The AccurioLabel 230 is the true no compromise entry level label press on the market and with over 450 presses now sold, our customers would agree”.

Amongst the benefits highlighted by Print.IT Reseller are the AccurioLabel 230’s increased speed (an up to 147% increase at 23.4 meters per minute print speed) and the ability to print PP and PET, coated paper and uncoated paper 330mm wide at this increased speed with the highest-quality (1200 x 1200 dpi).

The publication also praises the additional overprinting option, which allows flexo pre-printed material to be overprinted (such as flexo white pre-printed on clear PP labels).

Jon added: “High-quality label printing is an essential part of the modern retail, commerce, industry and distribution sectors. These labels are invaluable in helping to identify and market a wide range of goods, as well as providing essential consumer or legislative information such as weight or volume, supplier or manufacturer contact details, ingredients or contents, storage recommendations, handling, usage and safety information. The AccurioLabel 230 high native resolution allows for the finest of detail, whilst delivering vibrant colours, helping printers to exceed the expectations of this market, without the high investment cost of comparable alternative toner or high-end inkjet presses”.

Figures from the marketing research institute Smithers Pira show that the volume of printed square meters in this sector rose from 4 billion in 2014 to 7 billion in 2017 – with the trend showing no sign of slowing for the foreseeable future.

Jon concluded, “Labels of all kinds are one of the fastest growing sectors in the printing industry (along with flexible packaging), having averaged around 4-6% per annum growth worldwide for at least the last 30 years. The AccurioLabel 230 is designed to meet all the challenges and needs of this exciting sector whilst offering the flexibility, reliability and excellent value for money expected from Konica Minolta’s industry-leading products.”

Customers can see the new AccurioLabel 230 at the newly opened Konica Minolta showroom in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
