Konica Minolta Develops Future Talent through Advanced Apprenticeship in Print and Document Solutions
As technology in the print industry continues to evolve at a rapid pace, so does the service level expected from customers. No longer are customers simply looking for printers and supplies, they expect an integrated, high quality, efficient and affordable business solution.
Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd partnership with Pearson in Practice has led to the launch of a new Advanced Apprenticeship in Print and Document Solutions to address this gap in the market along with other industry leaders.
Designed by the industry for the industry this new Apprenticeship Programme will develop a qualified and motivated workforce that will be able to deliver the service required from our customers both today and tomorrow.
Konica Minolta, the largest participator in the programme, has taken on nine apprentices throughout the country after identifying a gap in the talent pool. The programme lasting at least 12 months consists of extended periods of classroom based learning undertaken at one of the Pearson In Practice centres, supported by ‘on the job’ training together with participation in their own in house courses and development programmes.
Apprentices receive intensive training in all aspects of mechanical and electrical theory and practice as well as all IT Training including all Microsoft systems/servers, MAC O/S and networking. Konica Minolta has developed Personal Development Plans for every one of their Apprentices with input from all those involved, and each one of them is supported throughout the programme by their own personal mentor.
Launched on 17th September, at the Pearson in Practice London based offices, guest speaker Merri Applegate, Director of HR was invited to present Konica Minolta’s approach to the Apprenticeship Programme. “We are really excited to be partnering with Pearson in Practice to develop the future talent of our business. With a shift in the landscape of the market from print to fully integrated IT business solutions, the apprentice scheme gives us a great opportunity to shape the skill set and the future standard of our service workforce. In line with Konica Minoltas vision to develop long term mutually beneficial partnerships and in synergy with our long-term patronage of The Princes Trust, the Apprentice Scheme fulfils both a business imperative and aligns with our values of supporting young people and enterprise.”
