Konica Minolta, Inc. (Konica Minolta) has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for the second year in a row in recognition of its economic, environmental and social performance.

Konica Minolta Included in FTSE4Good Global Index for Tenth Consecutive Year

After a decade of commitment to enhancing management and social responsibility, Konica Minolta are delighted to announce that they have been included in the FTSE4Good Global Index for the tenth year in a row. FTSE Group is one of the best known indices in the world for socially responsible investment (SRI**) communities.

Companies in the FTSE4Good Index Series have met stringent environmental, social and governance criteria, and are positioned to capitalise on the benefits of responsible business practice. In the most recent evaluation, Konica Minolta was awarded with a full score in the environmental aspect, as well as high marks in the social and governance aspects.

Konica Minolta Named to Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for the First Time

Konica Minolta Holdings, Inc. (Konica Minolta) has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for the first time in recognition of its economic, environmental and social performance.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) are the first global sustainability indexes provided by Dow Jones and SAM (Sustainable Asset Management) Group, the Switzerland-based sustainability investment company, to assess corporate sustainability from economic, environmental and social developments. In the annual DJSI review of the world’s 2,500 companies, 340 companies have been listed in the DJSI World and, within the list, 20 are Japanese companies including Konica Minolta.

Konica Minolta has also been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index (DJSI Asia Pacific) for the fourth consecutive year.

Green Hero Award - National Environmental Best Practice 2012

Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd, a market leading Managed Print Solutions provider, has won the prestigious Green Hero Award for a second time in recognition of its innovative ‘MPS Green Audit Process’, helping to reduce its customers’ environmental impact.

The Award was presented to Claire Ham, Konica Minolta’s Quality & Environmental Manager by Trevor Baylis O.B.E., inventor of the wind-up radio.

The Green Audit Process is an integral element of the full end to end Managed Print Service offered by Konica Minolta. It enables the calculation of the amount of energy, paper and consumables used in the printing process, and works out the Co2 emissions generated. With award winning environmental credentials, Konica Minolta is then able to develop a plan to empower businesses to reduce their environmental impact, whilst streamlining their business and document workflows.

 

FTSE4Good Global Index - 2012

Konica Minolta Holdings, Inc. (Konica Minolta) is pleased to announce that the company has been included in the FTSE4Good Global Index by FTSE International Limited (FTSE) in the U.K, one of the best known indices in the world for socially responsible investment (SRI) communities. This is the ninth year in a row that Konica Minolta has earned this recognition.

Green Apple Award - National Environmental Best Practice 2011

Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) has won the prestigious Green Apple Award in recognition of our pioneering Optimised Print Services Green Audit Process.

The Green Apple Awards campaign is run by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-political, non-profit organisation that recognises, rewards and promotes environmental best practice around the world.

As part the Green Audit Process, Konica Minolta aims to reduce customer print fleets and volumes by installing improved efficiency devices, to reduce the environmental impact of customers’ document production, with the consequent benefit of reducing operating costs. Customer businesses typically do not have the in-house resources to ascertain their current environmental performance and are able to utilise the successful Green Audit Process from Konica Minolta to calculate the amount of energy, paper and toner used by their devices. From this information, Konica Minolta UK are able to determine the amount of carbon dioxide generated and work towards a strategic plan of reductions.

 

Basildon Business Awards - Environmental Awareness 2011

Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd is proud to announce they are winners of the Basildon Business Awards in the Environmental Awareness category.

The award was for the best company who could demonstrate a 'clearly articulated and widely communicated  environmental strategy, that is incorporated into the overall business strategy'.

Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd provides a 'Green Audit' process to help reduce customer's environmental impact. Following a successful OPS Green Audit Process, Konica Minolta UK can calculate the amount of energy, paper and toner used by customer devices. From this information, Konica Minolta UK is able to determine the amount of carbon dioxide generated. The project is a holistic approach to the customers’ document workflow needs, encompassing every facet of the process, including environmental impact, as part of the company’s customer intimate approach.

The project provides an innovative environmental training programme for primary school children to enable them to make more confident and informed ‘green’ choices and to positively influence family and friends on green issues.

Basildon Business Award for Environmental Awareness 2009

Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) have won the prestigious Basildon Business Award in the Environmental Awareness category in recognition of their pioneering environmental projects.


The project 'Going Green with the Blues’ has been designed in conjunction with Southend United Community Trust to promote positive social behaviour and environmental awareness amongst the local community. The project provides an innovative environmental training programme for primary school children to enable them to make more confident and informed ‘green’ choices and to positively influence family and friends on green issues.

The 'Greenhub recycling centre' scheme, located at Konica Minolta HQ in Basildon, has received further investment in machinery to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill. The 'roll crusher' breaks wooden pallets into chips to be reused and also reduces the amount of pallets stored in the warehouse. The 'cardboard and plastic compactor' fully compacts plastic and cardboard into bales to be collected and recycled into raw materials for reuse are an example of the type of new investments being made.

The 'environmental briefing awareness tour' entailed all employees being visited by the Q&E team to educate staff regarding the importance of the environment and how we can help our customers to reduce their environmental impact.

These include monitoring energy usage, reducing waste, monitoring fuel consumption in company vehicles, using Rainforest Alliance products and being audited by 3rd party auditors are just a few of the initiatives implemented.
