Delivering cost savings across the City of London Corporation

The City of London's legacy print contract was on a traditional 'rent and usage in arrears' model. The ICT Commercial Lead, Rajiv wanted to move to a pricing model based on actual print usage, to reduce costs. They wanted to replace their aeging multi-functional devices (MFDs) across all their facilities. They wanted a solution that allows them to track print volumes and act on changes in device usage.

Challenge

Rajiv Rathod, Commercial contract manager of City of London's Procurement Team affirms: “We were looking to move on from a traditional supplier/customer relationship to a partnership that could help us not only make cost savings, but advise us as to where we could continuously improve the service, lowering costs for both supplier and customer, and future proof the contract".

Solution

Konica Minolta provided a 350-strong fleet of mono and colour devices, managing the roll-out and installation across 80 buildings within London and the South-East. Konica Minolta is working with the Corporation to ensure that a new print policy and strategy is in place, enabling it to apply print principles across the organisation, including how to streamline the fleet, site the right machine in the right location as well as associate machines to volume.

Konica Minolta provided a commitment to delivery and showed a strong intention to work with us on improving end-to-end delivery. The relationship also provides scope for innovation, such as digital mail and other print services, in addition to the MFDs.
