Konica Minolta launches new A3 Colour Laser Printer

Staines, 20th November 2007

Konica Minolta announces their new A3 colour laser printer - the magicolor 8650DN. This is the ideal solution for creative departments within medium to large sized organisations who are looking for a premium colour solution. The magicolor 8650DN joins the A3 product portfolio alongside the award winning magicolor7450 which has been recently awarded the Macworld 2007 award.

The magicolor 8650DN has been designed with the ability to handle a large variety of media and various finishing options eliminating the need for outsourcing. The Innovative technology of the magicolor 8650DN ensures that your printing results are of the highest quality.

High print speed is critical along with quality of print in creative environments where there are demanding tight production deadlines. The magicolor 8650DN handles up to 35 pages per minute, in colour or in black and white and as a standard, this machine has two 500-sheet paper feeders and a 150-sheet bypass tray which can be increased by using the optional lower paper feeders. The input capacity of 3,650 sheets enables users to print large jobs with ease and without interruption.

The magicolor 8650DN delivers high quality documents with the use of Konica Minolta’s Simitri HD polymerised toner, combined with PhotoART-19200 contone technology printing at 600 x 600 x 5-bit. 5 bit printing produces more colours for every pixel, improving reproduction, readability and smooth colour gradations.

The ICC profile used is a further component which produces a more precise colour output and reproduction. As with other Konica Minolta devices, the magicolor 8650DN is also equipped with the Emperon controller for productive high quality printing and efficient print speed.

An outstanding feature of the magicolor 8650DN is its flexibility. With the use of a multipurpose tray, the magicolor 8650DN processes media of different formats from OHPs, labels and envelopes to A3+ sheets and banners of up to 1.2 meters in length. With respect to paper weight, media of up to 271 gsm presents no problem to the machine and in the duplex printing mode 256 gsm can be reliably fed through.

With the magicolor 8650DN finishing has almost become an art. The device’s modular layout allows users to get the finishing options they really require. As standard, the magicolor 8650DN is equipped with an offset sorting function. This can be expanded with numerous options such as a punching kit or a booklet option to produce saddle stitched and folded booklets. Sophisticated reports or brochures can conveniently be produced in-house.

Ensuring high quality and economical printing is an important factor for many users. The magicolor 8650DN has a toner saving mode function, thereby reducing toner consumption by up to 50%. Auto-colour recognition ensures colour is only printed where it is really required and users can also be given limited access rights for colour printing.

“There are several reasons why our new magicolor 8650DN is ideal for in-house printing”, explains Karsten Wiebking, Product Manager Office Group at Konica Minolta. “With the different media types this printer can handle various finishing options; the new magicolor’s flexibility is immense. Furthermore, we offer users various means to reduce printing costs with this machine.”

The magicolor 8650DN brings high performance and versatility to professional users where high speed and outstanding quality is key. Fitting perfectly into demanding working environments, the magicolor 8650DN is an exceptional A3 Colour Laser Printer.
