Nieuwegein, January 20, 2006 - Konica Minolta Printing Solutions Europe expands its existing range of colour laser printers with the combined colour laser printer/ copier magicolor® 2480 MF. This new laser multifunctional device also has complete scanner functionality and is shipped with software that allows you to send and receive faxes from your PC.

Given its compact design and affordable list price of € 749,- excluding VAT, the magicolor 2480 MF is perfectly suited for personal use within small offices and for home users. The magicolor 2480 MF offers print quality and functionality that was previously not available for these working environments.

With the external optional network interface, magicolor 2480 MF can be put to work in corporate networks or used as a combined printer/ copier for workgroups.

The magicolor 2480 MF prints at a speed of 20 A4-pages per minute (ppm) in monochrome or 5 ppm in full colour whereby the first page prints in 12 seconds (colour: 21 seconds). After a 'cold start', the machine is ready to print after only 75 seconds. The print resolution is 2400 x 600 dpi. Furthermore, it prints on all kinds of media: normal paper, recycled paper, glossy paper, transparencies, post cards, labels and envelopes. The maximum paper weight allowed is 163 g/m2.

The new laser printer/copier has a multi-purpose input tray of 200 sheets and can be expanded with an optional input tray of 500 sheets. Unique for this price class, it offers the possibility to include a duplexer (optional) for automatic duplex printing and copying. Prints are collected in the 200 sheet output tray, providing the possibility to select different sorting options.

The printer supports Windows® 98SE, XP, 2000 and ME and can be connected via a USB-port (2.0) or optional network interface. Included is software that enables you to manage the print process and view the status from your PC.

 

Copying

The copier offers the magicolor 2480 MF vast amount of functionality.

Originals can either be inserted into the 50 sheet automatic document feeder, or be placed directly on the flatbed scanner. The number of copies can be adjusted from 1 to 99 and be reduced/enlarged from 50 - 200%. If copies are made of an original document, the copy speed is 20 pages per minute in monochrome and 5 ppm in colour. In the case of several documents, the print speeds amount to 10 ppm and 3,6 ppm when using the automatic document feeder. The print resolution of the copies is 600 dpi.

 

Scanning

With the flatbed scanner of the magicolor 2480 MF, originals can be scanned in the maximum format of legal (A4+) at a resolution of 600 dpi. Scanning a monochrome original requires 9,4 seconds, and a colour scan 23 seconds. The scanner supports the WIA as well as the TWAIN-protocol.

Quality

The magicolor 2480 MF is equipped with eAIDC: enhanced Automatic Image Density Control. eAIDC controls each print according to a specific pattern; if after extensive use the quality deviates from the original quality standard, automatic corrections will take place during the printing process.

 

PictBridge

Because the magicolor 2480 MF is equipped with PictBridge. PictBridge compliant digital cameras can be connected directly to the printer. Photos can then be printed and rotated directly from the camera and adapted to the print format. Another option is to print an overview of all photos in thumbnail format from the camera's memory.

 

PaperPort® paper handling

The magicolor 2480 MF is delivered with the Windows compatible program PaperPort from ScanSoft, which enables various types of files to be managed, filed, previewed, distributed and

archived with out having to start up the original application. PaperPort provides a logical document archive system for your scanned documents such as (invoices, petrol receipts and forms), text documents, and photo archives and product documentation in PDF-format.

The magicolor 2480 MF will be available in February 2006 and has a one year on-site warranty.
