Multi-tasking

The power of Emperon lies in its multi-tasking ability to complete individual print jobs simultaneously. This provides all users instant access to all printing devices on the network. Data is stored in the printer's memory enabling print jobs to be processed and printed at the same time.

A job is received by the printer from the host PC via one of the interfaces (USB, PARALLEL or ETHERNET) to the printer.

The LANGUAGE SERVER in combination with the SNIFFER or the PJL commands determines the emulation of the print job.

When the emulation is selected, the job can be processed in the PSL (Page Selector) and the display list (R1 blocks) can be generated. The display holds the R1 blocks (compressed page images) for the rasterizer. The rasterizer decompresses the R1 blocks for the Rasterizer Server (framebuffer) which in turn provides the image data for the engine.

When the display list size is not sufficient to hold the R1 blocks of a given page, then the image is sent directly to the rasterizer server.

Compile ahead: Display list is used for storing R1 blocks.

Traditional compilation: Images are immediately sent to the rasterizer server.

The configuration Manager is the layer between the web server (PageScope Light), the user interface (front panel) and the Emperon system. The configuration manager for instance also takes care that localization strings are the same for the various user interfaces (Front panel, PageScope Light, status pages, etc.).
