The removal of ink or toner from recovered paper, called Deinking, is the key process in today’s paper recycling. The International Deinking Industry Association (INGEDE) recently carried out tests to assess the deinkability of printouts produced by Konica Minolta printers.
Five Konica Minolta PRO and PRESS series of printers scored top results. Printed materials from the bizhub PRO C6000, PRO C7000 and from the bizhub PRESS C6000, PRESS C7000/P and PRESS C8000 show excellent deinking properties and contribute to further closing of the paper loop.
“A top test result like this is very hard to achieve. Most technologies are struggling to get it,” says Pauline Brooks, UK Product Manager, Production Print.
In February 2010, INGEDE already recommended the Konica Minolta bizhub PRO C6501 series. “The second positive assessment within a year confirms our commitment to protect the environment.”
The Konica Minolta bizhub PRO C6000, PRO C7000 as well as the PRESS C6000, PRESS C7000/P and the PRESS C8000 were tested by INGEDE for their ability to support paper recycling. In all, these products scored top marks. The success is to a large extent based on Konica Minolta’s Simitri HD polymerised toner used in the above-mentioned bizhub systems. The characteristics of this toner contribute to the easy removal of toner from paper. Consequently print professionals who already use one of these systems or are planning to buy one can be sure that they are not printing at the expense of the environment while achieving quality comparable to offset output.
