Konica Minolta launches innovative bizhubs

Milton Keynes UK, 23 September 2009
Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd has launched three mid-range multifunctionals with a series of technical innovations for improved performance. The bizhub C220, bizhub C280 and bizhub C360 offer 22, 28 and 36 prints per minute respectively in black-and-white or colour. Network print, copy and high-speed network scanning are standard features with optional fax functionality.

For printing and copying the bizhub C220, C280 and C360 are equipped with one of Konica Minolta’s powerful Emperon™ controllers, featuring a fast 1GHz CPU (667 MHz on bizhub C220), 2Gb memory, a 250Gb hard drive, and standard PostScript 3 compatibility.

Document scanning is fast and simple with the new bizhubs. Multi-page documents can be scanned automatically at up to 70 originals per minute to email, FTP, SMB and user box. Scan formats include PDF, searchable PDF and compact PDF, XPS and compact XPS as well as TIFF and JPEG. The huge memory capacity allows scanned documents to be easily stored at a full 600dpi resolution in colour.

With the increased need for environmental conservation, bizhub C220, C280 and C360 have typical electricity consumption (TEC) values that are amongst the lowest in their class. The systems switch to energy-saving mode faster and consume considerably less power in sleep mode than previous models. This eco-friendly operation also helps to save running costs and keeps all three models well within the latest regulations of the Energy Star and the German Blue Angel standards.

Thanks to the bizhubs’ comprehensive access control features, colour functionality can be restricted if necessary to allow only authorised users to produce colour documents. Standard password authentication reliably limits system access to authorised users. For fast and accurate access, Konica Minolta has an Advanced Biometric Authentication system that reads the finger vein, an innovative alternative to the standard pin-code authentication.

The new bizhubs comply with the latest international security standard ISO 15408 EAL3 for data security. They are also equipped with a complete security package, including IEEE 802.1x network access protocol, to keep critical information safe.

Paper capacity ranges from a standard 1,150 sheets to a maximum 3,650 sheets. Konica Minolta continues to lead the market by having 256gsm duplex capability from all paper trays and with a maximum of 271gsm via the bypass. Banners up to 1.2 metres in length can also be outputted. For finishing options a modular floor-type finisher, a highly compact integrated staple finisher and a job separator mean that the bizhub C220, C280 and C360 can be equipped for the individual needs of any office.

For Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK), Malcolm Smith, Group Product Manager for Konica Minolta office products said, “Continuous technical innovation has been the key to the success of the bizhub multifunctional range. Improved environmental performance, faster speeds, state-of-the art security features, powerful finishing and improved output quality will ensure that Konica Minolta remains at the forefront of the multifunctional market.”
